The Gloucester Dippers

The Gloucester Dippers are a dedicated group of outdoor swimmers who took on an incredible challenge: swimming the English Channel as a relay team! This effort was deeply personal, as one member’s daughter had received life-changing support from Young Gloucestershire during her struggles with OCD and self-harm. The team saw this challenge as the perfect way to express their gratitude and give back. By choosing to support both YG and another charity, they raised an impressive £6,000, making a significant impact on the young people YG supports.

Poppy’s Family & The Yorkshire Three Peaks

During their painful journey, her family received vital counselling and support to help them cope with their grief. In honour of Poppy’s memory, they bravely took on the Yorkshire Three Peaks Challenge, raising over £1,000 for Young Gloucestershire. Despite challenging weather conditions and completing the final stretch in the dark, they finished the challenge in a remarkable 11.5 hours. Their determination not only honours Poppy’s legacy but also shines a light on the importance of mental health awareness and suicide prevention. We are incredibly proud of their strength and resilience, and we know Poppy would be too.

Janes Wingwalk

Jane Tuffnell, the former High Sheriff for Gloucestershire, Jane shared, “Having met many remarkable charities in my role, the vital work that Young Gloucestershire does for young people, especially in the realm of mental health and well-being, is something I am passionate about supporting.” This commitment stems from her personal experience, having tragically lost her son, Carlie, who died by suicide at the age of 22. Despite her fear of heights, Jane took on the exhilarating challenge of wing walking on top of a 1940s Boeing Stearman biplane raising an incredible £13,500 for YG.
