Supporting Young People in Education
At Young Gloucestershire (YG), we work with schools and alternative education providers to support young people who have become disengaged from education.

Whatever the reason, whether it’s linked to mental health, neurodiversity, or behavioural challenges, our Youth Workers provide one to one support to help young people:

* Take steps towards re-engaging in learning
* Build resilience and confidence
* Rediscover the value of education
* Have their voice heard through advocacy

How We Work
The support we offer in education is specifically commissioned, which means referrals cannot be made directly by parents or young people. Instead, referrals come through education professionals.

Our current work in this area includes:
* Transition Chat – Supporting young people at risk of becoming NEET (Not in Education, Employment or Training) post 16
* S19 – For those aged 5 to16, ensuring young people’s voices are heard in the process of re-engaging with education following a S19 referral.
*APST – A pilot multi agency programme supporting young people to succeed in education (ages 5-16)
* Individually commissioned support – Tailored work with young people (ages 5–16) who are not attending school

Referrals
To access this support, a referral must be made by an education provider. This usually happens through:
* TALC (Team Around Locality Cluster)
* An S19 referral
* An Education panel
